The Portsmouth Trojans have had some remarkable 5 year runs of outstanding basketball. Under Coach Eugene Collins, the Trojans compiled a very good 94-33 record from 2011-2015. That ranks as the 4th best 5 year run in PHS history. Here are the top five 5 year periods of Trojan basketball in terms of winning pct.:

The only losing season of those 5 periods is the 2012-2013 season, in which the Trojans went 10-13. Still, the 5 year period from 2011-2015 saw 2 Final 4 teams and an Elite 8 runnerup. The only 5 year period listed above that did not produce a state tournament team was 1951-1955. Portsmouth did win the district in 4 of those years and finished regional runnerup in 1954 and 1955.
