Lady Trojan senior Sienna Allen became the all time leading scorer in PHS girls basketball history, passing the previous leader Peighton Williams. Allen now has 1,610 points after her last 2 games, including 20 vs. Gallia Academy on Monday. She has 4 regular season games remaining, and tournament games do count toward her overall total. Kyre Allison is the all time leading scorer in Trojan history with 1,688 points, so it's quite possible that Sienna could end up with the highest point total in school history, boys or girls.

The Portsmouth junior high boys and girls teams are doing well at the midseason point. To date, the 7th grade boys have lost only 1 game to Wheelersburg and are undefeated in OVC play. The 8th grade boys have won 3 games, and are doing much better than last year when as 7th graders they didn't win a game. 

The Portsmouth junior high Lady Trojans have only 1 team with 7th and 8th graders combined which is normal for girls basketball at that level. To date, these girls have lost only 1 game overall, and that was to Gallia Academy.

Lady Trojan Sienna Allen has been named the Ohio D5 Player of the Year. She led the team in scoring in 4 tournament games in the state championship run, and her 20 points in the state semifinal vs. Fairland is tied with teammate Daysha Reid for the most points in a single game in the Final 4 by a Lady Trojan.

Sienna is only a junior and could become the all time leading scorer in PHS basketball history as she has already passed the 1,000 point mark.

Update 9/12/2025: Sienna accepted an offer to play basketball at Ohio University.

The Portsmouth Lady Trojans won the 1st state championship in Lady Trojan history with a convincing 53-38 win over Creston Norwayne in the 2025 D5 state championship game. Junior Sienna Allen led PHS with 17 points, while sophomores Hayven Carter and KeKe Woods scored 11. Senior Daysha Reid scored 10, freshmen Salem Allen scored 3, and sophomore Brianna Shannon made a FT.

With the win, PHS finished the season at 27-1, tying the 1988 boys D2 state championship team which also went 27-1. 

Congratulations to PJHS 8th graders Joe Greene and Ryan Monroe for scoring their 500th point during the OVC 8th grade basketball tournament. The 8th grade Trojans beat Ironton in the OVC tournament championship game 53-52 in OT. They finished undefeated for the entire season.
