Trojan senior to be DeAndre Berry is set to become the school's next 1,000 scorer. He is around 320 points shy of that mark, and considering he averaged almost 17 PPG as a junior, should reach 1,000 points rather easily barring any significant injury.
Update 12/16/23: Berry now has 786 points after 4 games of the 2023-24 season. He scored 18 vs. Lawrence Co. KY, 24 vs. Portsmouth Notre Dame, 30 vs. Rock Hill, and 31 vs. Gallia Academy.
Update 12/20/23: Berry now has 822 points after a 36 point effort vs. Coal Grove. He is averaging 27.8 PPG, and if this pace continues, will break Larry Hisle's single full season PPG record of 25.5 set in 1965. In 5 games thus far, he has scored 18, 24, 30, 31, and 36 points. He also could break the most games of 30+ points in a career, set by Damond Mannon in 1991 and 1992.
Update 12/30/23: Berry now has 870 points after a 25 point game vs. Providence Christian, followed by 23 points vs. Wheelersburg.
Update 1/11/24: Berry now has 911 points after scoring 15 vs. Chesapeake and 26 vs. Ironton.
Update 1/24/24: Berry now has 977 points after scoring 40 vs. Rock Hill, only the 5th Trojan to score at least 40 in a single game.
Update 1/25/24: After some new findings about his point total, Berry now has 983 points.
Update: 1/26/24: Berry now has 1,014 points after a 31 point game vs. Gallia Academy.
Update: 1/29/24: Berry now has 1,031 points after scoring 17 vs. North Adams.
Update: 1/31/24: Berry now has 1,053 points after scoring 22 vs. Coal Grove.
Update 2/3/24: Berry now has 1,073 points after scoring 20 vs. Chesapeake. He passed Damond Mannon's 1,057 points to move into 10th place all time.
Update 2/5/24: Berry now has 1,087 points after scoring 14 vs. Portsmouth West. He is 9 points behind Dion McKinley, Wayne Evans, and Matthew Fraulini (all with 1,096).
Update 2/7/24: Berry now has 1,125 points after scoring 38 vs. Ironton. He is now the 7th leading scorer in Trojan history.
Update 2/10/24: Berry now has 1,161 points after scoring 36 vs. South Point. He is now 95 points behind 6th place all time scorer Jeff Lisath.
Update 2/14/24: Berry now has 1,176 points after scoring 15 points vs. Fairland. He is now 80 points behind Jeff Lisath.
Update 2/14/24: Berry now has 1,193 points after scoring 17 points vs. Fairland. He is now 63 points behind Jeff Lisath.
Update 2/20/24: Berry now has 1,212 points after scoring 19 vs. Paint Valley in sectional tournament first round.
Update 2/24/24: Berry now has 1,237 points after scoring 25 points vs. Piketon in the sectional championship. He is now 19 points behind Jeff Lisath for 6th place all time.
Update 3/4/24: Berry now has 1,264 points after scoring 27 points vs. Northwest in the district semifinal. He finishes the 6th all time leading scorer in PHS history.
