Our own Jeff Lisath, a 1978 graduate of Portsmouth HS, was named as the next boys basketball coach on Thursday at the regular PCSD school board meeting. Lisath, who won a state championship as a player in 1978, takes over one of Ohio's most decorated programs. Lisath has a long coaching resume, having done stints at Columbus State, Chillicothe HS girls, and boys HC at Unioto, Piketon, and Dayton Northridge. He currently is the Asst. Supt. of the Dayton Northridge schools. Jeff is the all time leading scorer in Trojan state tournament history, having scored a total of 40 points in the 1978 Final 4. He tallied 18 points in the semifinal win vs. Ottawa-Glandorf, and then followed that performance with 22 points vs. Cleveland Cathedral Latin in the state championship game. He scored 1,256 points for his Trojan career, good for 6th on the all time list.  Lisath went on the play college basketball at Miami of Ohio. He has amassed almost 400 wins in his coaching career, and in 2009 he led the Piketon Red Streaks to the Final 4, their only Final 4 in school history. Welcome home, Jeff. Looking forward to seeing him on the sidelines leading the Men of Troy.
