The Portsmouth Trojans are off to a strong start in summer play as they recorded a 6-0 mark for the week of June 7-11. PHS won handily at Northwest on Tuesday, then went 5-0 at the Denison University Shootout, including 2 wins over Columbus Independence, in which 1 was the championship game of the bracket.

So far the turnout has been excellent, with as many as a dozen players showing up.

Portsmouth will play in its own shootout on June 16. The Trojans play at 10 AM vs. Dayton Northridge at the old 8th St. gym, then in the middle school gym at 1:20 vs. Southeastern Ross, and will conclude play with a doubleheader in the main gym at 3PM vs. Hillsboro and a 3:50 start time vs. Huntington Ross.

Portsmouth travels up north to play 4 games today (6/13). They will play West Muskingum, Loudonville, Jeromesville Hillsdale, and Orrville. I will post results as they become available.

Results from today: West Muskingum 58, PHS 51; PHS 68, Loudonville 56; PHS 66, Jeromesville Hillsdale 58; PHS 51, Orville 42. The Orville game was played without Kenny Sanderlin, who mildly tweaked an ankle.

So far the Trojans are 9-1 in summer play.

Portsmouth went 3-1 in the PHS shootout yesterday. Kenny Sanderlin did not play due to an ankle tweak. PHS lost to Dayton Northridge 54-46, beat Southeastern Ross 70-46, beat Hillsboro 50-36, and beat Huntington Ross 57-39. Overall, the Trojans looked good, but Devin Lattimore and Isaiah Lewis were limited in action due to ankle injuries.

Portsmouth finished its summer basketball tour with 3 games at Eastern Brown. The Trojans went 1-2, losing to Williamsburg and Hillsboro, beating Eastern Brown. PHS only had 6 players available. Several others were injured and were unable to play.
